Beech Street School believes in the power of a growth mindset. We are committed to our education, and we demonstrate resilience by persevering through our mistakes. Join us at Beech St School for a fun night of guided painting! No previous experience or skills are required, and we'll provide all the necessary supplies. As we have limited capacity, we'll be accommodating student participants first, followed by family and caregivers. During the event, we'll be selling baked goods and popcorn to raise funds for student activities, including field trips, an outstanding citizen banquet, and school assemblies. If you plan to attend, please RSVP for Paint Night. We only need one submission per family.

We are thrilled to announce that the Student Council will be returning for the 2023/2024 school year. The Student Council is not just a group of students, but a representative organization that empowers students to develop their leadership skills by organizing and executing school activities and service projects. In addition to promoting school spirit and community welfare, the student council serves as the voice of the student body, providing an avenue for students to share their ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and administrators. We're excited to see the impact the Student Council will have on the school and its students in the coming year.

The student council members were chosen by their peers to serve as representatives of the student body. To be considered for the position, students had to complete a candidate form, which included a persuasive essay on "What qualities make a good candidate?" From the submitted forms, four candidates were selected per class to move forward in the process. These students then presented their essays to their classmates as part of their campaign. Finally, a classroom election was held, and each student voted for two class representatives.

To all aspiring student leaders who ran for the student council, Ms. Crow, Ms. Freitas, Ms. Dwyer, and Mrs. Wheeler express their heartfelt congratulations. Your courage and determination are truly inspiring, and they cannot wait to collaborate with the newly elected council in making this school year a success.

The boys' and girls' basketball teams kicked off their season with incredible determination and passion, facing Green Acres over the weekend. They both emerged victorious, showcasing their hard work and perseverance. The boys' team dominated with a score of 32-18, while the girls' team held on tight and won with a close score of 12-10. These impressive wins have set the tone for the rest of the season, inspiring both teams to continue practicing and improving, and to bring their best game against Weston next Saturday.

November's Show Up Class Competition Results

Congratulations to Mrs. Chandronnait's third grade for winning the November Show Up class competition. They managed to reduce their tardiness rate by 5% compared to October. Great job! Shoutout to Mrs. Balletta's and Mrs. Hughs' classes for being on time 99% and 98% of the time throughout the month. Keep up the good work!

December's Show Up Class Competition

For the month of December, the class with the least amount of unexcused absences will win the competition along with an award. However, it is important for students to stay home if they are sick. If your child is sick, they should stay home until they are free from fever, vomiting, and diarrhea for 24 hours without taking medication. If your child is going to stay home, please inform the school so we can excuse their absence.

Missing School: It Adds Up!

When your child attends school regularly and on time, they have the opportunity to excel academically and to establish a positive daily routine for learning.

Regular attendance allows for students to be involved in lessons, develop relationships with their peers, and make the most out of their education. It also gives the teacher the opportunity to assess each student and effectively plan ahead.

Excessive absences can lead to students missing out on important information or falling behind in their learning. Regular school attendance is an important indicator of your child's performance and success as they grow. Simply put, absences add up.

8:00-Doors open for Breakfast only

8:15-Doors open K+1 enter in cafeteria, 2+4 enter in back library door, and 3+5 enter in the garden door.

8:25-Doors close and gates are locked. All students must enter the main office and are tardy. You will receive an automated call that your student was late for school.

2:50-Dismissal on the playground.

Check your students backpack for their green communication folder. There are many papers in their folder to start the year that need to be filled out and returned to the school.

We understand that as a parent, you may have specific concerns about your child's education and well-being. However, during student pickup, our teachers need to focus on ensuring a safe departure for all students with their families. We also respect the privacy of our students and their families, and therefore, we do not hold personal conversations about a student during this time. If you would like to speak with your child's teacher, please feel free to use one of the communication methods provided, and our teacher will respond to you as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding!

If you're interested in helping out with classroom preparation, supervising during lunch, or organizing games at recess, please contact Mrs. Wheeler at the office to participate. We appreciate any extra help!

Students can buy a bag of freshly popped popcorn for only 50 cents every Wednesday as a snack. Popcorn orders are taken during attendance in the morning, so students need to arrive on time to place their order. Each student is limited to two bags. A big thank you to our dedicated parent volunteers who make this treat possible!
