Solar Eclipse Monday, April 8, 2024

Reminder that our region will experience a near total solar eclipse this Monday, April 8. Since this will occur near the end of the school day, we are again sharing information to ensure everyone is prepared. In a solar eclipse, the moon passes between the sun and the Earth. Manchester is not in the "path of totality," meaning that we will not see a total solar eclipse, however it will still create quite a spectacle and leave our area briefly in the dark.

April 8 will be a normal school day, however we are making preparations and taking some additional precautions. Ahead of the eclipse, our schools are sharing information with students about solar eclipses, and most importantly how to remain safe. Our main concerns are ensuring:

  • Students are not looking at the sun without proper eye protection (eclipse glasses will be provided to each child before dismissal)

  • Everyone is using extra caution traveling when it is dark outside

Any school groups planning to hold events for the eclipse must receive permission from a student’s family in order to participate. Otherwise, all after-school activities will remain indoors until the end of the eclipse.

Below you can find more helpful information on the eclipse:

Kindergarten Registration

You Can Register New Students Online Any Time

Kindergarten registration is now open for the 2024-2025 school year in the Manchester School District. Families can register new students online any time at www.mansd.org, however for those who do not have access to a computer or need help with the registration process, in-person registration will be held at Beech Street on April 30th from 9:00-12:00 and 12:45-2:30 and May 9th from 5:00-6:30PM. In addition to kindergarten, you can also register any student who is not currently enrolled in Manchester School District – current students do not need to be re-enrolled.

Students must be five years old by Sept. 30 in order to register for kindergarten. Whether registering online or in-person, you’ll need the following documents to get your student signed up: child’s birth certificate, two proofs of residence and the child's last well child exam and immunizations records.

Show Up Manchester!

April's Show Up Class Competition

The winning class for the month of March was Ms. Bernard's 3rd grade with 5 unexcused absences.

For the month of April, the class that is most improved in having the fewest unexcused absences will win the competition along with an award.

Please remember to let us know if your child is staying home by calling or emailing the school's office so we can excuse their absence. We understand that your child's health should always come first. That's why we urge you to keep your child at home if they are unwell. Remember, if your child has a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, they need to stay home until they are free of symptoms for 24 hours without medication. It's important for us to make sure that your child is in a safe and healthy environment at school. We take your child's education and well-being seriously, and we want to ensure they have the best experience possible.

Missing School: It Adds Up!

When your child attends school regularly and on time, they have the opportunity to excel academically and to establish a positive daily routine for learning.

Regular attendance allows for students to be involved in lessons, develop relationships with their peers, and make the most out of their education. It also gives the teacher the opportunity to assess each student and effectively plan ahead.

Excessive absences can lead to students missing out on important information or falling behind in their learning. Regular school attendance is an important indicator of your child's performance and success as they grow. Simply put, absences add up.

The goal of the program is to help children become more familiar with fresh produce and to increase their overall acceptance and consumption of unprocessed fruits and vegetables.

Ways to contact your child's teacher:

  1. Email

  2. Call (603)624-6314 and leave them a message

  3. Class Tag App

We understand that as a parent, you may have specific concerns about your child's education and well-being. However, during student pickup, our teachers need to focus on ensuring a safe departure for all students with their families. We also respect the privacy of our students and their families, and therefore, we do not hold personal conversations about a student during this time. If you would like to speak with your child's teacher, please feel free to use one of the communication methods provided, and our teacher will respond to you as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding!

Volunteers Welcome!

If you're interested in helping out with classroom preparation, supervising during lunch, or organizing games at recess, please contact Mrs. Wheeler at the office to participate. We appreciate any extra help!
